Staff Role at GS: Kidz Club Director
Favorite bible passage(s): Proverbs 31:25-26 – encourages women & gives me motivation to overcome my fears, Ephesians 6 – reminds me of the relationship between parent & child & between myself & God. Proverbs 22:6, 19 – teaching children the right path… very fitting since I will be involved in Kidz Club & yet another influence on why God’s way is the right path.
Why Ms. Jean wanted to become the Kidz Club Director: I had previously worked at Good Shepherd in Kidz Club during the 2012-2013 school year. I left because we moved to Kansas for my husband’s military career. In 2016, Scott accepted a job in St. Paul. As we made our plans to move back to Minnesota, I called a friend at Good Shepherd & asked if there were any job openings. I felt so blessed by God’s hand in providing the perfect position for me!
Ms. Jean’s philosophy: Treat others the way you want to be treated. Trust & respect are things that have to earned & strive to gain these from those work with. My hope at Kidz Club is to be a positive role model & mentor for the Kidz Club staff, children, & others at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church & School.
Hometown: Beresford, SD. Our high school mascot is the Beresford Watchdogs, although all the pictures remind everyone of a bulldog so we are often called the Beresford Bulldogs!
Education: Rasmussen College, Eagan, MN; Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology
Experience: In Kansas, I was the receptionist for 2 surgeons who specialize in breast cancer. I have also worked in a chiropractor’s office & am also retired military (Jan 2016). I worked at Kidz Club during the 2012-2013 school year. I have always enjoyed being around children & have realized that while I am teaching them I also learn from them & I’m excited to get back to that; that is one of my joy’s in life – seeing life through a child’s eyes/perspective.
Home Life: Scott & I were married in June 2009. We are both retired military. He is employed by the the VA in St. Paul, and in addition to being Kidz club Director, I am also a Thirty-one Consultant. In 2014, we adopted Kensley & plan on adopting again. We would also like to become foster parents. We share our home with 2 dogs – Buster, age 11 & Bella, age 4. I enjoy reading, word searches, making homemade items & spending time with my family. As a family, we enjoy being outdoors, going camping, & traveling. Kensley keeps us in shape as she likes to go for walks in her wagon & playing outside. She also likes to be in the water so I see swimming lessons in her near future! We are happy to be back in Minnesota as it brings us closer to family & friends.
