Good Shepherd Lutheran Church | Burnsville, MN

Joanie Arndt

Preschool Teacher

Summary: I accepted a call to serve as a part-time Preschool Teacher for Good Shepherd in May of 2017.

Favorite Bible Passage: It’s too hard to pick just one. With Joshua, I announce that “me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15) and with Peter, I proclaim that Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:16) I also hold to the promise God gave the psalmist that when “I walk through the valley…I will fear no evil for you are with me. (Psalm 23:4)

Teaching Philosophy: Each child in the classroom is a unique individual with their own personality, needs and way & pace of learning. My job is to take them where they are and help them to get where they need to be next. Walking right beside me in this task is each child’s parents and caregivers, who have been his/her first and best teachers. I also know that God is granting me the wisdom and patience to help each child grow and learn.

Hometown: I consider the entire Upper Midwest my home town. I was born in Appleton, WI but my father went on to serve congregations in Milwaukee, WI, Freeland MI, Hillman, MI, and East Jordan, MI. I attended high school in Saginaw, MI and college in New Ulm, MN. In my adult life, I have lived in Salem, WI, Fond du Lac, WI, Marshall, MN, Palos Heights, IL, Appleton, WI and now Lakeville, MN

Education: I attended a combination of Lutheran Elementary schools and public grade school. I graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary High School and then on to Dr. Martin Luther College where I received a B.S. in Elementary Education.

Experience: I taught 1 & 2 grade at Faith, Antioch, IL and Samuel, Marshall, MN. I taught 3 & 4 yrs. old preschool at Palos Heights Lutheran and Shepherd of the Hills, Inver Grove Heights.  I announced a Call acceptance to Good Shepherd Preschool on 2017.

Family/Home Life: My husband, Bill, and I were married in June of 1990. We are the parents of 6 children who are rapidly leaving our home to make lives and homes of their own. We enjoy walking our dog and trying to keep the weeds out of our numerous flowerbeds.
