Favorite Bible Passage: For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith – and this not of yourselves, it is a gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Eph. 2:8-10 (This was my confirmation verse!)
Summary: I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN and have 20+ years teaching in early childhood, all of which have been in our Lutheran Schools. The last 10+ years have been here at Good Shepherd where I am a member. I loved being a stay-at-home mom when my own 3 children were young years ago. I am now entering the Grandparenting stage of my personal life and loving every minute of it!! When the Lord called me to begin my public teaching ministry in Preschool, I quickly realized this is the job he has prepared for me all along and it became my passion to work with young children and their families. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to share the message of God’s saving work with the children and to see firsthand how the Holy Spirit impacts their little hearts and causes faith to grow. Anyone who spends any amount of time with preschoolers knows how they are like little sponges -they learn so quickly! I enjoy the challenge of channeling their boundless energy into meaningful, brain-based play experiences, all while giving them the love, guidance and acceptance they deserve as a child of God.
Teaching Philosophy: I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially and spiritually. The preschool years are an exciting time of learning, and building social skills, while having so much fun doing it! I strive to meet a child where they’re at and lovingly encourage them to reach for the next step. Preschool can set a wonderful foundation for children to be life-long learners and I am thrilled to be a part of it.
