Dear Fellow Members of Good Shepherd,
As you are aware, Pastor Dave will be retiring at the end of June of 2016. As we take time over the coming months to celebrate his and Jane’s 40 years of ministry at Good Shepherd, we are also beginning the process to call the next pastor. He will work alongside Pastor Mike and be part of leading our Vision Goals as together we carry out the ministry of Good Shepherd. We have scheduled a pre-call meeting with our District President, Charlie Degner, for the evening of Sunday, December 13 (save the date!).
In preparation for that meeting, President Degner has asked the leadership to fill out a form to help him understand the direction of our congregation and the type of skills needed in a pastor to fill that. We would like to give the congregation an opportunity to give input as well. This link will take you to a form to fill out. Paper copies are available at the Welcome Center and may be turned in to the designated box in the office. Although the on-line version is not entirely anonymous, you have my word that no names will be attached to the pooled comments and data. If you are more comfortable giving your opinions anonymously, then please submit the paper version. We desire your input by November 18th so that we can review the information at our November 19th Leadership Team Meeting. Thanks for giving this some prayerful thought!
Ron Hunt, Vice President
Saturday, 11/21 from 9am – 1pm in the Fireside Room. This workshop is for members and the public. All are welcome. Cost is $20 and includes both assessment fees, and lunch. (Scholarships available, if needed.) Please RSVP below.
WHY? Identify your Spiritual Gifts and Personal Strengths and learn how to live more fully with them, and how to better appreciate others and their gifts. Often, conflicts arise from not understanding the different ways others are wired. Learn how to work alongside most anyone in harmony!
DETAILS: We take time to learn about spiritual gifts, then personal strengths, and then how the two work together. There are assessments to take before hand. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to get the weblinks for the assessments. (These need to be taken and submitted before the training on Saturday, November 21.)
If you have already taken the assessments or attended in the past and want a refresher – please resend your results and just contribute to lunch. Thanks!
NOTE: Gifts and Strengths are noted on each person’s profile in the HUB. It helps leaders and coordinators to know your gifts, and allows you to know about service opportunities that fit your natural talents and interests.
The HUB is our database system and community tool that includes church, school and friends of Good Shepherd. We use it to communicate directly with specific group members, ensuring the information you’re receiving is relevant and directly pertains to you. There are several other ways Good Shepherd strives to communicate with you.
- The Panther News is a weekly e-newsletter, sent each Monday morning. It contains schedules and information for the school. If you are not receiving it, but would like to, please contact Dave Retzlaff
- HUGS is another weekly e-newsletter, sent each Wednesday afternoon, with links and mid-week updates regarding the church, WELS affiliates, and community events. You’ll find this newsletter often reflects items shared in the Sunday printed Shep Talk. This e-version however, provides hyperlinks to make it easy to RSVP for events, volunteer for needs, and find groups. If you know someone who isn’t receiving HUGS, and would like to, please contact Dana Sommer
- While we have made an effort to reduce Good Shepherd’s paper printing, the Communication Hallway still provides use of mail bins for some notices, and is lined with bulletin boards for each area of Ministry. Posters and flyers are available for viewing there.
- Both Good Shepherd and School are on facebook! If you haven’t already, please like the church’s page here and the school’s page here. Often, both pages share happenings of members and students that aren’t celebrated anywhere else!
If you feel you are missing communication from Good Shepherd Church or School, or feel there is a way we could better communication with you, please let us know by emailing email@example.com
Blessings to you!
The HUB is a system designed by CCB: Church Community Builder. They are constantly working to improve their system.
