Summary: Pastor Rau announced a Call Acceptance to Good Shepherd on Sun, Apr. 23, 2017.
Favorite Bible Passage: Ephesians 2:8-9 It is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast. It is my Confirmation verse, and so succinctly reminds us that our salvation is entirely God’s gift of grace – his undeserved love.
Factors that led Pastor Rau to accept the Call to Good Shepherd: Over years of ministry, I have learned the importance of ministry planning and administration and enjoy putting those interests to work in the interest of the Gospel and the work of the church. At Good Shepherd, I looked forward to helping connect people to God, his Word, his People, his Work and his Purpose. Those are exciting goals that present a great challenge to every member to be active in the ministry of the church, and to ever be growing in faith -and application of that faith- wherever they go. Working together with staff and elected leaders alike, I looked forward to shaping the next generation of ministry at Good Shepherd to the glory of God, and the benefit of his kingdom in Burnsville and around the world.
Pastor Rau’s philosophy: Ephesians 4:12 reminds us that God gives public servants to his church to equip and prepare people to serve him with their lives. And so I see my work as equipping and empowering members not simply to come to worship, but to go out from worship and serve in whatever place and station God has placed them. Church isn’t something we come to once or twice a week, but a part of who we are and something we carry out as we live lives of service- whether on the Good Shepherd campus, at home, away at school, at work, or out and about around town. There is a service we carry out in every one of those places and roles God gives to us.
Education: Pastor Rau attended a Lutheran elementary school and high school. He graduated college with a Bachelor of Arts degree before graduating from the Seminary.
